Teamwork Made the Germersheim DC Opening Possible

The successful opening of the Germersheim distribution center on Feb. 1, highlighted the Exchange team’s collaboration skills. Not only was the Giessen DC closing, but the Exchange had just wrapped up its busiest shopping season and stores were conducting their annual inventory. What are your top priorities as President/Chief Merchandising Officer? I am extremely excited about the future of the Exchange. On Jan. 11, the Department of Defense signed a letter announcing a policy change to allow all honorably discharged veterans to shop the Exchange online. Copies of the memorandum were sent to lawmakers on four House and Senate committees, and if no objections are raised within 30 days, we can launch the Veterans Online Shopping Benefit on Nov. 11—Veterans Day—and welcome home about 15 million shoppers. Exchange Brings a Touch of Home to Poland During Atlantic Resolve 2017

In January the Exchange celebrated the historical opening of three Mobile Field Exchanges (MFE) in Poland for the first time in its 121 years of service. In support of operations in Poland, the Exchange Europe team deployed three MFEs and opened three field barbershops to support the 3,500 troops entering Poland en route to multiple locations throughout Europe. Joining U.S. and Polish government officials and senior Commanders, COL Geoff De Tingo, Exchange Europe & SWA Commander, represented the Army and Air Force Exchange Service at the commemoration ceremony.
