Associates Spend ‘Priceless’ Face Time with Credit Program Mentors

Ten associates in the Exchange Credit Program spent priceless face time Aug. 8 with the directorate’s senior leaders in the first of five speed-mentoring events.

By the time the “Grow Future Leaders” speed-mentoring events are completed this fall, about 50 associates in pay bands 3-3 through 4-2 will learn more about their career paths, continuing education, individual growth and development, personal achievements and more.

“A speed-mentoring event gives future leaders now in pay bands 3-3s to 4-2s opportunities to meet, network and discuss their career aspirations with our executives, while gaining meaningful guidance and input in a fun and fast-paced way,” said Corliss Boettcher, who manages the Credit Program’s Customer Contact Center and served as a mentor.

“The face time and exposure with the executives were priceless.”

The associates, who range from communications specialist to financial analyst, were picked for mentoring after their names were drawn at random. All associates in pay bands 3-3s to 4-2s were entered for the drawing for the first session. Those who missed the first speed round will get their chances before “Grow Future Leaders” is completed this fall.

In the first session, managers mentored 10 associates in seven-minute sessions. After the time limit, associates moved to other executives throughout the nearly two-hour event in the Exchange Credit Program offices at HQ.

In addition to Boettcher, mentors included Senior Vice President Jami Richardson; vice presidents Tommy Ward and Kathy Bronkalla; Andrew Baron, financial analysis manager; Julie Leenders, director, CP business development; Philanda Morgan, communications and brand manager; Sedric Thomas, credit program manager; Francis Villamin, senior credit risk analyst; and Sara Wauters, operations & risk manager.

In her mentoring session, Courtney Gee talked with executives about her strengths, career goals and improving as a communications specialist.

“The speed-mentoring program made me realize that executives are approachable, and they want to know their associates,” Gee said. “This program made me more confident in my capabilities, fearless about approaching senior leaders and knowledgeable in how to move myself forward.”
