Winner of the 2017 Exchange Safety Motto Contest

Alfreda Smith, a receiver at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., came up with such a zinger of a safety slogan that the Loss Prevention Directorate has named her the winner of its 2017 Exchange Safety Motto Contest. LP managers picked Smith’s motto, “Bee in Control, Safety is Our Goal,”  from nearly 1,200 responses from associates around the world to signify the Exchange’s devotion to workplace safety. Smith received a $100 Exchange gift card, certificates and a coin from the Loss Prevention Vice President Eric Stewart. These Associates were CAUGHT . . . Doing the Right Thing

These associates are truly carrying out the Exchange core value, “The courage to use good judgment,” by ensuring they perform their jobs safely, thus saving the Exchange hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost work time, workman’s comp expenses and other costs associated with injuries. Dion Albea, a customer service associate at Fort Stewart, Ga., doesn’t let the bucks get past her until she uses the special pen to verify that they’re legit and not counterfeit.           At Ramstein AB’s KMCC in Germany, Tymmons Shapot from the GNC concessionaire is ready to respond with a yellow warning sign to prevent slips and falls in her store.             In the Baumholder food… Keep Reading

Retirees: Are You Having Difficulty Gaining Access to Exchange Facilities?

One of the benefits for Exchange retirees is that they are able to shop the Exchange. DD form 2574 (retiree Exchange card) documents shopping privileges. While DD form 2574 is a Defense Department ID card, it is not an ID card recognized to grant access to the installations. Exchange retirees who need access to an installation need to obtain a “chipless” common access card (CAC). Your local HR office can provide instructions on how to contact the installation to obtain the card. For retirees located near the Exchange HQ, they may obtain their card through the headquarters HR office. Keep Reading

Customer Shout Outs/News

Customer Shoutouts: These Associates Rock!

Derrick Bogar Overseas Region/Robinson Barracks, Germany I would like to recognize Derrick Bogar, furniture store manager at Robinson Barracks, for excellent customer service and leadership. Mr. Bogar told us that the sofa we had ordered would not be available for another month, but he went out of his way to send us pictures via email of other sofas that might interest us. Mr. Bogar found us a deal and accommodated our furniture needs. During the checkout, a clerk was having difficulty properly checking us out. Although there were other customers who needed his attention, Derrick calmly stopped what he was doing and provided on-the-spot instruction to the associate without making him feel uncomfortable. His leadership skills are evident and his customer… Keep Reading
