His company isn\u2019t the sort of household name as many of the others ranked, but it\u2019s well-known among U.S. military members. Shull, a veteran and Harvard MBA, is the director and CEO of the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, an $8.3 billion retailer commonly referred to as \u201cthe BX\u201d by service members. Its parent organization is the U.S. Department of Defense.<\/p>\n

The Exchange encompasses 3,500 brick-and-mortar stores, gas stations, restaurants and theaters on military bases around the world. With Shull at the helm, the Exchange has built a thriving website and vastly expanded its customer base.<\/p>\n
