\"\"SPANGDAHLEM AIR BASE \u2013 \u00a0<\/strong>For Senior Airman Patrick Devlin, a joke among friends has paid off in a big way.<\/p>\n

Devlin, who serves with the 52nd<\/sup> Fighter Wing at Spangdahelm Air Base, took the keys to a new 2018 Jeep Co<\/a>mpass S<\/a>port<\/a> as a gra<\/a>nd-prize winner in the E<\/a>xchange Subway Sweepstakes<\/a>. He entered the sweepstakes to win the Jeep, valued at more than $24,000, last year after joking with his friends that he\u2019d ultimately be driving home a winner.<\/p>\n

Devlin picked up the keys to his new ride<\/a> during a presentation at the Spangdahelm Exchange on July 24.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing like giving to those who serve our country,\u201d said Spangdahelm Exchange General\u00a0Manager Robin Boylan. \u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to take care of Airmen like Patrick who sacrifice every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Devlin, who has served in the Air Force for nearly three years, said that he and his friends regularly eat at Subway, and he joked with them when he entered the sweepstakes last year, saying, \u201cI\u2019m going to win this Jeep.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t believe it at first. I was not sure it was real,\u201d Devlin said. \u201cI\u2019ve never won anything before. I\u2019ve never heard of anyone that I knew winning something this big.\u201d<\/p>\n

Devlin, from Niceville, Fla., said that when he told his father and two brothers back home, they were shocked as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll share a picture with them,\u201d he said. \u201cThey\u2019ll still be surprised.\u201d<\/p>\n
