VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE \u2013 <\/strong>When first-grader Douglas Anderson IV found out he was the second-place winner of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service\u2019s worldwide You Made the Grade sweepstakes, he decided to change his name.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe says his name is \u2018Rich Man,\u2019\u201d his father said.<\/p>\n

Douglas received his prize<\/a>, a $1,500 Exchange gift card, at a presentation Jan. 24 at the Vandenberg Air Force Base Exchange.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Vandenberg Exchange is honored to reward Douglas for his academic achievement,\u201d said Exchange General Manager Ladda Marx. \u201cMilitary children like Douglas work hard to maintain their grades and succeed in school, and we hope this prize shows his efforts paid off.\u201d<\/p>\n

First- through 12th-graders who maintain a B average or higher can enter the sweepstakes for a chance at a $2,000, $1,500 or $500 Exchange gift card. Douglas was randomly selected from nearly 600 entries.<\/p>\n

Douglas, 6, is the youngest son of retired Master Sgt. Douglas Anderson III and his wife, Christina, of Santa Maria, Calif. Master Sgt. Anderson served 18 years in the Air Force.<\/p>\n

Douglas found out about his win while on vacation with his parents and two older siblings in Hawaii.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe didn\u2019t believe me at first,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t until he heard me tell someone else that it sunk in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once he understood what he had won, Douglas was ecstatic<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s just so excited to have won something,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cHe has all kinds of plans of things he wants to buy.\u201d<\/p>\n

All three Anderson children qualified for the sweepstakes and entered for the first time this year after seeing a poster advertising the sweepstakes at the Vandenberg Exchange<\/a>. \u201cRich Man\u201d will be graciously sharing the money with his siblings.<\/p>\n

When asked what he is going to do with the money, Douglas\u2019s response was simple: \u201cSpend it!\u201d<\/p>\n
