\"\"DALLAS \u2013 <\/strong>Army & Air Force Exchange Service shoppers put the \u201cGive\u201d in the 2018 Give and Get Back campaign to support Army Emergency Relief (AER) and the Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAF).<\/p>\n

During three donation periods, Exchange shoppers contributed more than $333,000 to AER and AFAF<\/a>, which provide emergency assistance, sponsor educational programs and offer community programs that improve the quality of life for service members and their families. For every $5 shoppers donated, the Exchange gave a coupon for $5 off a $25 purchase.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery dollar contributed by Exchange shoppers is going to support military members and their families who need a little extra assistance,\u201d said retired Lt. Gen. Raymond V. Mason, director of Army Emergency Relief. \u201cWe are so grateful for their generosity in making the military community stronger and combat-ready.\u201d<\/p>\n

Exchange shoppers raised $75,000 more in 2018 than the previous year. In the first two years of the Exchange\u2019s Give and Get Back effort, shoppers have contributed nearly $600,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe donations of Exchange shoppers have been invaluable to the work we do in helping Airmen and their families through tough times,\u201d said retired Lt. Gen. John Hopper, Air Force Aid Society CEO. \u201cAs one of four charities that benefit from AFAF, we can\u2019t thank them enough for helping us continue a long tradition of taking care of our own.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Exchange is planning three more donation periods in 2019: Jun. 14 through 18 to celebrate the Army\u2019s birthday; Sept. 13 through 17 to mark the Air Force\u2019s birthday; and Dec. 6 through 10 as part of the holiday season.<\/p>\n

\u201cArmy Emergency Relief and the Air Force Assistance Fund look after our heroes and their families in need,\u201d said Exchange Director\/CEO Tom Shull. \u201cIt is an honor for the Exchange to participate in such important work. We look forward to continuing this partnership throughout 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
