\"\"U.S. ARMY GARRISON HUMPHREYS\u2014<\/strong>For military spouse Kayla Johnson, an ordinary trip to the Camp Humphreys Family Mini Mall last month turned into something extraordinary.<\/p>\n

After buying a large soft drink, Johnson discovered that she won a $5,000 Exchange shopping spree as a second-prize winner in the Subway Sip.Rip.Win peel-off game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was completely stunned when I peeled off the label on my cup,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cI asked my husband to look because I couldn\u2019t believe it said $5,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Because Johnson is currently visiting family in Tennessee, Garrison Commander Col. Scott W. Mueller, Command Sgt. Maj. Antonio R. Lopez, Exchange Pacific Regional Vice President Rick Fair and Camp Humphreys Exchange General Manager Scott Bonner presented\u00a0her husband, Spc. Guy Johnson, with five $1,000 Exchange gift cards<\/a> during a presentation at the Camp Humphreys Exchange on April 2. Johnson has served four years in the Army, including six months at Camp Humphreys.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so grateful to the Exchange,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cWinning this prize is wonderful. Being able to shop in the Exchange is a welcome opportunity for us as we are away from home and getting used to a new culture.\u201d<\/p>\n

As a general manager, Bonner celebrates moments like this with young military families like the Johnson\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis prize will help them get what they need\u2014and splurge a little too,\u201d Bonner said.<\/p>\n

Exchange shoppers have a chance to win more than 75,000 prizes worth more than $532,000 awarded in this OCONUS giveaway, including shopping sprees, Exchange gift cards and thousands of instant-win Subway food prizes. After winning, Kayla Johnson said that she could not wait to video chat her mom back in the states.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven with the time difference, Mom was really excited,\u201d Johnson said.<\/p>\n

This prize comes at a good time. The Johnsons have two daughters, who are 4 and 2. Their older daughter, Annabelle, will be starting school soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe now have plenty of money for school clothes and supplies,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cBirthdays and Christmas will be a little better too.\u201d<\/p>\n
