\"\"DALLAS<\/strong> \u2014 For the eighth consecutive year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service has been named a \u201cBetter for Veterans\u201d Military Friendly\u00ae Employer<\/a> by Viqtory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine.<\/p>\n

The Exchange ranked in the Top 10 for the third year in a row in the Retail Consumer Goods and Government\/Non-Profit category and received a Gold distinction, which is given to employers setting an example with their programs and initiatives to hire and retain Veterans<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The annual list recognizes companies based on hiring, retention, promotion and advancement of Veterans and service members. This marks the 10th<\/sup> time the Exchange has been named a Military Friendly\u00ae Employer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Exchange is honored to have received the 2020 Military Friendly\u00ae Employer designation\u2014we strive to be the employer of choice for our Veterans and family members,\u201d said Leigh Roop, Exchange Executive Vice President, and Chief HR Officer. \u201cIt is a privilege to be recognized as the Gold standard employer for our efforts in the recruitment of Veterans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Veterans comprise nearly 12% of the Exchange\u2019s workforce. As of July 2019, the Department of Defense\u2019s largest retailer has hired more than 40,000 Veterans and military spouses, reaffirming the Exchange\u2019s commitment to hiring 50,000 Veterans and military spouses by 2020. The Exchange has hired more than 1,400 Wounded Warriors since 2010.<\/p>\n

\u201cVeterans bring unique perspectives and experiences to the Exchange,\u201d said Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, Exchange senior enlisted advisor. \u201cWe are better able to provide for the best customers in the world because of the Veterans in our ranks. Our core value of family serving family is embodied by their service at every level, from associates in the field to our executives around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout the year, the Exchange recruits Veterans for its Veteran Retail Management Training program<\/a> as well as downrange positions<\/a> that utilize skillsets gained while in the military.<\/p>\n

Military Friendly\u00ae is the standard that measures an organization\u2019s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits and employment opportunities for Veterans and their families. The Military Friendly\u00ae Employers list is created yearly based on extensive research using public and government data sources for more than 8,800 employers nationwide.<\/p>\n

This year, nearly 300 employers received the Military Friendly\u00ae designation as being \u201cBetter for Veterans.\u201d The complete list will be published in the December issue of G.I. Jobs magazine.<\/p>\n
