CAMP MARKET, SOUTH KOREA \u2013 <\/strong>The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is all in to ensure the safety of food provided to school children at Department of Defense Education Activity schools and to diners at Exchange restaurants.<\/p>\n

Typhoon Lingling damaged the Exchange\u2019s Korea Distribution Center, including freezers used for the DODEA school meal program and Exchange restaurants. The Exchange is working solutions to ensure the safety and quality of all its food product.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything that\u2019s reaching our customers and students is safe,\u201d said Col. Scott Maskery, the Exchange\u2019s Pacific Region commander. \u201cDespite the challenges the typhoon damage has raised, the Exchange\u2019s mission of feeding our Warfighters and their children nutritious and high-quality meals remains uncompromised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Any affected product is being disposed of following safety protocol while new shipments of food are being rerouted to other Exchange storage locations in the region.<\/p>\n

Maskery also thanked the Eighth\u00a0Army, which has provided critical support to the Exchange in the aftermath of the storm damage.<\/p>\n

The Exchange\u2019s school meal program, which serve 2.5 million meals each year to service members\u2019 children overseas, is expected to continue<\/a> without disruption.<\/p>\n
