10 Fort Drum families were surprised with $1,000 in layaways paid off.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

DALLAS <\/strong>\u2013 <\/strong>More than 150 military families got a special holiday surprise last week as their Exchange layaways were paid off<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit organization Pay Away the Layaway coordinated with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service to pay off a total of more than $26,000 in layaways at 10 Exchange locations<\/a>. Layaways that were paid off included kids\u2019 items such as toys and clothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a treat to see the faces of the kids and the parents when they were surprised with their paid off layaway items,\u201d said Fort Jackson Exchange General Manager Thomas Kuttamperoor. \u201cThe Exchange is grateful to take part in making sure Fort Jackson military brats have a wonderful holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pay Away the Layaway has partnered with the Exchange for the past three years to give back to the military community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been an honor to partner with Pay Away the Layaway over the past few years,\u201d said Jetdean Martin, Exchange Store Communication and Support Manager. \u201cSpreading the holiday spirit is their specialty and we appreciate the opportunity to help them continue their selfless work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pay Away the Layaway<\/a> is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that raises money online to pay off layaway balances. The mission of the organization is to inspire hope and spread kindness. This is the third year the Army & Air Force Exchange services has partnered with the group to pay off layaways worldwide. Pay Away the Layaway welcomes donations year-round through their website, www.payawaythelayaway.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n
