JOINT BASE LEWIS-McCHORD \u2013 <\/strong>Two sweepstakes winners at Joint Base Lewis-McChord went on the shopping spree of a lifetime with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service after peeling winning game pieces from their Subway drink cups.<\/p>\n

Air Force Capt. Cameron Lindsey and 62nd Aerial Port Squadron Safety and Security Manager John Draper<\/a> each won a $10,000 Exchange shopping spree in the Subway Sip. Rip. Ultimate Trip sweepstakes. Both winners went on their shopping sprees Sept. 4 at the McChord Exchange.<\/p>\n

Lindsey, a C-17 pilot, peeled his winning game piece while on temporary duty travel to Ramstein Air Force Base, where he flew COVID-19 patients from Afghanistan and Iraq to the hospital in Germany. It was the first game piece he\u2019d pulled during the sweepstakes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew the sweepstakes was going on because I saw the sign out front; that\u2019s why I bought a large drink,\u201d Lindsey said. \u201cI thought I\u2019d try for a free footlong or something like that, but I ended up getting a lot more.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draper, an Air Force retiree, peeled his winning piece while grabbing a quick bite at the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Express Subway, having forgotten his lunch that day.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt first, I just thought the piece was just an entry into a drawing,\u201d Draper said. \u201cI went to the website and put in the code on the game piece, and it popped up that I was the winner. I would\u2019ve been happy with a free sub; I couldn\u2019t believe I\u2019d actually won $10,000.\u201d<\/p>\n

Draper\u2019s haul included a refrigerator, a washer and dryer set, a computer and some Christmas gifts for friends and family. Lindsey, meanwhile, picked up a mattress, dryer, laptop, TV and more.<\/p>\n
