125 Years of Family Serving Family – Heidi Smith, Inventory Control Associate, Hohenfels Exchange, Germany
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 125 years of family serving family
For nearly 20 years, Heidi Smith has served the Exchange as a detective at the Hohenfels Exchange. Now, she has moved on to a new adventure as an inventory control associate.
“I have gained so much working as an inventory control associate,” Smith said. “It has boosted my self-confidence and has improved my customer service relations.”
In addition to helping customers, Smith said she works with a great team and has come to appreciate their support.
“We stick together through thick and thin,” she said. “We are here for each other and the customers – that is all that counts in the end.”
Smith knows firsthand why strong bonds at work matter. Her teammates gave her overwhelming support when her beloved father passed away.
“It was amazing to see how the Exchange was there for me and supported me during this very trying time,” Smith said. “The amount of support that I received from my boss and fellow coworkers was unbelievable.”
Because Smith has experienced life as a deployed military spouse, she understands what it means to her customers when they find products they are accustomed to.
“When we were stationed away from my home in Germany, and I was able to find merchandise in the Exchange that I was familiar with as a German – it made me very happy,” Smith said. “I understand how my customers here are happy to find things from their home.”
Smith loves helping service members and their families feel more at home.
“The Exchange is a home away from home,” Smith said.
