Grand Forks AFB Celebrates Renovated Exchange With Ribbon-Cutting

GRAND FORKS AIR FORCE BASE – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service ushered in a modern era of shopping for Airmen and military families with the grand reopening of its remodeled Exchange at Grand Forks Air Force Base.

“The Exchange is privileged to be part of Team Grand Forks,” said Exchange General Manager Annette Montgomery. “Grand Forks shoppers will love our new look—they deserve it.”

Montgomery, 319th Air Base Wing Commander Col. Benjamin Spencer, Command Chief Master Sgt. Brian Thomas and Exchange Central Regional Vice President Larry Salgado cut the ribbon on the renovated Exchange during a grand reopening celebration Aug. 10.

A major highlight of the face-lift—the 43-year-old store’s first since 2010—is the BE FIT concept shop, which has the look and feel of a sporting goods store athleticwear and shoes for men and women from Under Armour, Nike, Adidas and other name brands.

Airmen and families will notice an improved store layout, larger health-and-beauty care and pet areas, new signing, fixtures and carpet. The Exchange’s assortment has expanded too, with Lucky, 5.11, Carhartt and Columbia among in-store offerings. More prestige cosmetics are offered as well, including Stila, Dermalogica and Anastasia.

“The store is much more open—and it’s easier to find things,” Montgomery said. “We’ve made changes shoppers have asked for. The Exchange is invested in the community, and this renovated store proves our commitment to serving our heroes here at Grand Forks.”

Every dollar of Exchange earnings goes back to Airmen and families. Last year, shopping the Exchange generated more than $200,000 for military Quality-of-Life programs at Grand Forks.
