DALLAS – For the second straight year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service drove home with the Pride & Polish Best in Show People’s Choice award at the annual Great American Trucking Show.
Bradley Wacks, an Exchange motor vehicle operator who was recently inducted into the National Private Truck Council’s Driver Hall of Fame, accepted the award on behalf of the Department of Defense’s largest retailer during a ceremony Aug. 25 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas. The trucking show attracts thousands of visitors, who vote for their favorite tractor-trailer on display.
The Exchange’s winning truck salutes our Nation’s Veterans and serves as a rolling billboard, reminding all who served honorably that they can now shop their military exchanges online at ShopMyExchange.com—tax-free for life with military-exclusive pricing.
“Winning Best in Show is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Col. Douglas Vallejo, the Exchange’s deputy director for Logistics. “This truck—and this award—is dedicated to all of those who serve and sacrifice. It is truly a privilege to ‘Go Where You Go.’”
The truck also won second place in the Combo, New Truck category in the Pride & Polish class judging. The Pride & Polish competition honors excellence and creativity in the trucking industry. This is the third year the Exchange has participated in the contest and show, which is in its 19th year.
The winning truck will soon hit the road, bringing merchandise to Exchanges throughout the upper Midwest.
“This truck reinforces the Exchange commitment to welcoming home Veterans,” Vallejo said. “It is such an honor to serve them.”
