Exchange Makes Durable Medical Equipment Available for Luke Community

LUKE AIR FORCE BASE – Luke Airmen, retirees and families can now find crutches, braces, mobility devices and other durable medical equipment (DME) at the Luke Exchange mall.

Jay Starks, owner of the DME shop; Aileen Beck, Luke Exchange general manager; and Michele Klein, Exchange services business manager, cut the ribbon on the Platinum Venture Group shop July 22. The store offers a variety of medical equipment, such as CPAP supplies, hearing aids, compression garments, breast pump supplies, walkers, knee braces and more.

The new store accepts insurance, including TRICARE, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna and others. Medicare is accepted for select items and rentals are also available for some equipment.

“Having a DME shop at the Exchange mall is a great resource for the Luke community,” said Exchange General Manager Aileen Beck. “This store is helping to fulfill the Exchange mission of making life better for our service members, retirees and families.”

The Luke location is the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s 13th durable medical equipment shop on a military installation. The Exchange also offers equipment online at ShopMyExchange.com.

Since 100% of Exchange earnings support the military community, shopping the DME store and other Exchange facilities puts Luke shoppers’ money back into the local community. In 2018, the Luke Exchange contributed more than $520,000 to Quality-of-Life programs at the installation.

The Luke DME shop is located in the Main Exchange mall, 7071 N. 138th Street, Bldg. 1540. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 623-248-4275.
