Exchange Invites Service Members, Veterans to Showcase Golfing Skills in World Long Drive Competition

DALLAS — The Army & Air Force Exchange Service, Army Installation Command (IMCOM), Marine Corps Community Services and Air Force Services invite military members to tee off with the best for a $10,000 grand prize in the World Long Drive’s Military Long Drive competition.

Active-duty Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard members, military retirees and Veterans are eligible to enter the competition for a chance to compete in Exchange: Celebrating Service Fort Jackson, the 2020 Military Long Drive Championship at Fort Jackson May 17-19, televised by the Golf Channel.

All qualifier winners will advance to the Military Long Drive championship. The Military Long Drive winner will receive $10,000 and a trip to the Volvik World Long Drive finals in Oklahoma, which will also be televised on the Golf Channel. Those interested in taking a swing can enter at the hosting installation’s webpage.

Qualifier locations and dates are:

  • MacDill Air Force Base – March 14
  • Miramar Marine Corps Base – March 21
  • Nellis Air Force Base – April 4
  • Fort Hood – April 4
  • Fort Bliss – April 4
  • Fort Belvoir – April 11
  • Fort Benning – April 13
  • Fort Jackson – April 18
  • Fort Carson – April 19
  • Fort Sill – April 20
  • Fort Campbell – April 20
  • Fort Bragg – April 24

“The Exchange is honored to support service members as they pursue an activity they are passionate about,” said Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, the Exchange’s senior enlisted adviser. “We are thrilled to be a part of the World Long Drive events for the second year and look forward to seeing members of the military succeed.”

The entry fee is $25 and covers eight drives. Besides winning a spot in the championship, first-place winner of each qualifier will receive a $400 pro shop gift certificate. The second and third-place winners will receive a $250 and $150 pro shop gift certificate, respectively.

Last year, an officer with the Arizona National Guard’s 161st Air Refueling Wing, Maj. Michael DuBois, competed at the championship in Thackerville, Okla.
