DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has made U.S. Veterans Magazine’s 2020 Best of the Best list of Top Government and Law Enforcement Agencies, marking the seventh straight year the Department of Defense’s largest retailer has been honored by the publication.
The magazine polled more than 375 organizations to determine its Best of the Best lists, which laud Veteran-friendly achievements of government agencies, for-profit corporations and colleges and universities.
The accolade comes as the Exchange is closing in on its goal of hiring 50,000 Veterans and military spouses by the end of 2020.
“Veterans are the backbone of the Exchange,” said Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Luis Reyes, Exchange senior enlisted advisor. “Veterans bring strength and resiliency to our workforce. They understand our customers because they are our customers.”
Since 2013, the Exchange has hired more than 44,500 Veterans and military spouses. Veterans make up 10% of the Exchange’s workforce – and more than 1,600 Wounded Warriors have been hired since 2010.
The Exchange recruits Veterans through its Veterans Retail Management Training program, job fairs and other outreach events.
The Exchange gives preference to honorably discharged Veterans; disabled Veterans and military retirees below the rank of major or its equivalent.
The U.S. Veterans Magazine’s lists are compiled from independent and market research, diversity conference participation and survey responses. The 2020 lists will be published in the fall issue of U.S Veterans Magazine and available on newsstands mid-August.
