DALLAS – The Spangdahlem Air Base Exchange has been named among the best in the world, receiving the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s highest honor, the Director/CEO Cup.
The Spangdahlem Exchange—which encompasses a main store, Express, Military Clothing store, theater, restaurants and more—was recognized for its exceptional service to the military community during the Department of Defense retailer’s managers’ conference in Frisco, Texas.
52nd Mission Support Group Commander Col. Steven Lamb wrote a letter in support of the Spangdahlem Exchange’s nomination for the award, which helped secure its win.
The Spangdahlem Exchange team has a “genuine desire to provide support to the military community and it is evident in all they do,” Lamb wrote. “They can be relied upon to accommodate Command operational needs and to provide continuous support to the installations at Spangdahlem and the outlying GSU sites as well,”
Lamb also commended the Spangdahlem Exchange for hosting community events throughout the year and providing support for troops deploying in support of deterrence efforts in response to the war in Ukraine.

One winner and one runner-up were awarded the Director/CEO Cup in each of four size categories, based on sales volume: Super, Large, Medium and Small. The Spangdahlem Exchange was the runner-up in the Medium category.
The winners were chosen from among 94 eligible stores based on customer experience, leadership, business results, marketing efforts and community presence.
