Fort Liberty Exchange Renovates Three Expresses, Adds Dining Options

FORT LIBERTY – Fort Liberty shoppers are enjoying a new and improved shopping experience with recent updates made to three of the Army & Air Force Exchange Service Express stores.

At the Smoke Bomb Hill Express, which reopened in the summer, two new restaurant options were added: Eddie Peppers Mexican Grill and Chopz, which offers salads, sub sandwiches, burritos and more. The restaurants, along with Hunt Brothers Pizza, are open during Express hours.

The Butner Road Express and Pines Express also received updates. Eddie Peppers was added to the Butner Road Express, and all three Expresses have new layouts, flooring and freezer and cooler doors, as well as new wall murals and décor. Self-checkout kiosks have been added, and the Snack Avenue sections feature an expanded assortment.

The three projects each cost between $1.4 and $1.6 million and were funded entirely by the Exchange.

“The updated Expresses offer convenience and variety for Fort Liberty Soldiers, families, retirees, civilians and visitors,” said Fort Liberty Exchange General Manager Thomas “TK” Kuttamperoor. “The Exchange is committed to making Fort Liberty a great place to work and live, and we’re pleased to make the Express experience even better for our shoppers.”

Anyone with installation access, including visitors, can purchase food at the Express and Exchange restaurants. Shopping and dining at the Exchange supports the Fort Liberty community, as 100% of Exchange earnings are reinvested in military communities through support for on-post quality-of-life programs, as well as capital improvements, such as the renovated Expresses.

Many more improvements are planned for the Fort Liberty Exchange in the coming months, including the addition of Panera and Potbelly Sandwich Shop, and the completion of the new Glider mini mall.
