USAG BAVARIA, Germany – Exciting changes are underway for customers who use their Army & Air Force Exchange Service-issued ESSO fuel ration cards will soon have more locations where they can fill up with tax-free fuel.
EG Group Limited, which operates ESSO fuel service stations in Germany, has acquired the service station network of OMV Retail Deutschland GmbH, primarily located in Bavaria. A total of 223 OMV gas stations will be rebranding to ESSO in 2024, bringing the total number of ESSO stations in Germany to more than 1,200.
Over the next several months, drivers will begin seeing ESSO branding at new locations. While the transition is underway, there may be a delay in the new locations being able to accept Exchange ESSO fuel ration cards.
“This change will mean greater convenience and more options for Exchange ESSO cardholders,” said Col. Don Nowlin, Exchange Europe/Southwest Asia/Africa region commander. “The most important thing for drivers to know right now is that, if they’re stopping at a new ESSO location, make sure to check with the attendant to see if their Exchange ESSO fuel ration card is accepted before fueling up.”
Existing ESSO stations in Germany will not be affected by the acquisition and will continue to accept the Exchange ESSO fuel ration cards.
Social-media-friendly version: Exciting news for Exchange ESSO cardholders in Germany! ESSO is adding 223 new locations by acquiring OMV gas stations. During this transition, Exchange-issued ESSO cards may not be accepted temporarily. ESSO is updating its systems for acceptance, but in the meantime, check with each station before filling up to avoid paying the economy rate. Read more: https://wp.me/p9Q7PG-2FQ.
