The “Price Is Right” For Serving Those Who Served

Friday, November 1st, 2013

MEDIA CONTACT: Chris Ward
MEDIA ADVISORY: 13-075
RELEASE DATE: Nov. 1, 2013

DALLAS – The Army & Air Force Exchange Service has once again partnered with THE PRICE IS RIGHT, Daytime Television’s #1-rated series and the longest-running game show in television history, for its annual Veteran’s Day “Salute to the Military” episode, Monday, Nov. 11 (11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, ET; 10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on the CBS Television Network.  The episode will feature an audience full of veterans, each hoping to get the chance to “come on down.”

“Any day we honor those who have served our country and those who continue to serve it on a national stage is a good day,” said the Exchange’s Senior Enlisted Advisor Chief Master Sgt. Tony Pearson. “This is a great event we look forward to each and every year.”

This marks the sixth consecutive year the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and CBS have partnered to honor those who served while raising awareness that any American has the ability to support Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen with buying a gift card from www.shopmyexchange.com.

“Exchange gift cards are a fantastic way to support troops overseas,” said Chief Master Sgt. Pearson. “The Exchange stores are already there for them. Buying and sending a gift card allows them the chance to take a break from where they are and do a little shopping for themselves at their local Exchange.”

Gift cards offer a unique take on the idea of sending service members care packages. The Exchange operates 39 Exchanges in Afghanistan, and sending a gift card instead of a care package allows troops to choose the name brands and products they want, while saving the sender unnecessary and costly postage fees.

In appreciation of his enduring support of the military and his own previous military service, the Exchange presented Drew Carey, host of THE PRICE IS RIGHT, with a rare, limited edition replica of the Exchange’s Truck Driver of the Year truck and trailer.  The Exchange also gave each of the more than 300 members of the studio audience a $100 Exchange gift card.

THE PRICE IS RIGHT is hosted by Drew Carey.  Produced by FremantleMedia North America, THE PRICE IS RIGHT is broadcast weekdays (11:00 AM-12:00 Noon, ET; 10:00-11:00 AM, PT) on the CBS Television Network. Mike Richards and Jennifer Mullin are executive producers.

CBS Daytime has been #1 in the daypart for 27 consecutive years, featuring a balance of dramas, game shows and talk. The Network’s daytime lineup includes television’s #1-rated daytime program and longest-running game show THE PRICE IS RIGHT, the #1 daytime drama THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, daytime talk show THE TALK as well as THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and LET’S MAKE A DEAL.

This past summer, CBS led all networks with a combined 21 wins at “The 40th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.”  THE PRICE IS RIGHT won its sixth Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show.
